Scuba Diving

Bali is not only beautiful above water, but also under water this island is one of the most beautiful places on earth. For beginners as well as advanced divers there are enough opportunities.

For people who love snorkelling there are a few nice reefs at about 250 metres from the villa. One can snorkel there or ask a local fisherman for a lift. In the sandy bottom in front of the house one can see a variety of garden eels.

For those who want to explore Bali underwater with a scuba set, it is wise to contact a local diving operator. The have equipment for rent (if necessary), one can follow a diving course and they have the professional guides who know the dive sites. A guide is always a must as he will know the local circumstances like current and visibility. And even though the sea may look calm, there can be strong currents throughout Bali. Underwater you can find abundant live. A well known dive spot is close to the villa and is the Liberty wreck in Tulamben. Amongst others one can find black ghost pipefish there. The guide will also know where to find the pygmy seahorses (+/- 2cm).  And there are leaf scorpion fish to be found all around the wreck.

In the west of Bali near Pemuteran is the National Park Menjangan. Here nature is protected and the dive sites can be breathtaking.

Live around Bali is extremely varied, one can find big fish like Napoleons or sharks, but also small nudibranches.
 
More to the east lies Amed. Her you find nice coral gardens and another well known wreck. The tourist industry has meanwhile found Amed and there are several diving operators which are prepared to show you the best diving spots.

Padangbai is also worthwile for divers. One can meet leopardsharks and if it is the right season the huge Mola Mola (Sunfish).
